The Logic of the Reactive Penalty
Under EPDK regulation, if a facility's monthly inductive reactive energy consumption (kVArh) exceeds 20% of active energy consumption (kWh) — or capacitive reactive consumption exceeds 15% — all reactive energy of that item in the period is billed at the reactive energy rate (2026: 3.493698 ₺/kVArh). For installed capacity below 50 kVA the limits are 33% / 20%. The charge appears as a separate line on the invoice: a pure loss paid without consuming a single extra kWh.
